Pinterest is, in my opinion, the world’s most interesting social media website ever. A lot of people talk about it, but not too many people know what Pinterest is actually all about. Basically, it is a social website, just like Facebook and Twitter, where people literally “bookmark” their interests on “boards” by using “pins”; whether it is a video, a picture, or inspirational quotes, anything you find on the web has a place on pinterest. A lot of Pinterest users use their boards to store interesting looking recipes or as inspiration boards for weddings, travel, fashion and home decorating, but you can pin anything you want. It is all about the things you love the most – simply “pin it” to save it or watch it later! And have a look at what other people are pinning on their boards, “like” and “re-pin” to your own boards.

The easiest way to create a Pinterest account is to sign up using your Facebook login – it will be the same login on Pinterest, too. To do that, all you have to do is go to the Pinterest homepage and click on the “Continue with Facebook” button. Or another easy way is to sign up with your email address, which is what I am going to show you in this tutorial.

Create a Pinterest Account

To do that, you are going to start by typing Pinterest’s URL in your browser’s address bar:

That will lead you to Pinterest’s home page, where you are going to choose the way you want to sign up for your new Pinterest account. As I said before, I am going to sign up using my email address just in case any readers don’t have a Facebook account or don’t want to use it to sign up for other sites. You still can use your Facebook account if you prefer.

Now, insert your email and a new password into the appropriate boxes, then click “Sign up”. That will lead you to another screen where you will be asked to give more details about yourself: your first and last name, your age, and whether you are a male or a female. Then click on the red “Come on in” button:

You can choose between a lot of options like hair styles, DIY and decor, recipes, nail art and makeup, anything you love.
Pinterest may ask you to confirm your email address to make sure that it is correct, and to do this you will need to check your email and click the link that has been sent to you in your inbox:

All right! Now you have your Pinterest account and can start pinning things right away. How easy is that? Just keep in mind that you can organize your pins on boards according to themes or topics so you can find them easily when you want to look at them again. To make pinning even easier, see if your web browser has a “Pin it” extension available.
